Combined Introductory and Intermediate Contemporary Chinese Pulse Diagnosis course
An intensive six-day course (two 3-day weekends): 23rd – 25th Nov and 30th Nov – 2nd Dec 2012
A rare chance to study the Shen-Hammer system of Contemporary Chinese Pulse Diagnosis with two of Dr Leon Hammer’s senior instructors. The course will cover, amongst other things:
• Precisely locating seven Depths of the pulse, the six Principal positions, and the twenty-two Complementary positions
• Identifying Wave forms: Normal, Flooding Excess, Flooding Deficient, Full-Overflowing, Hesitant, Suppressed
• Understanding Rates and Rhythms: Normal Rates, Rapid Rates, Slow Rates, Rates on Exertion, Change in Rates at Rest, Interrupted and Intermittent Rhythms
• Pulse Qualities: Definitions, Sensations, and Interpretations of the 60+ pulse Qualities: Taut, Tense, Tight, Wiry, Ropy, Ropy Yielding Hollow, Leather, Slippery, Choppy, Smooth Vibration, Rough Vibration, Inflated, Flat, Thin, Hollow, Yielding, Reduced Substance, Deep, Feeble-Absent, Empty (stages I and II), Muffled, Cotton, Change in Intensity, Change in Qualities, Robust Pounding, Reduced Pounding, Blood Unclear, Blood Heat, Blood Thick, and quite a few more…
• Understanding how the interpretations of Pulse Qualities can change according to where on the pulse they are found
• Lots and lots of hands-on practice locating pulse positions and identifying pulse qualities under the supervision of two of Dr Hammer’s certified senior instructors
