Acrylic Painting Techniques for Beginners

Versatile Acrylics. Should I use Paper, Canvas or Board? Which Brush? How much paint? These questions and many more will be answered as we explore creative ways to render effects and styles. We’ll try different surfaces, different brushes and get to grips with the core quality of acrylics, the quick drying time. This course is designed for you to have fun and play with foundation techniques and will complement the Improvers course in September, should you wish to try more complicated methods. One-to-one tuition is given at every stage with technical brush skills. Some materials provided, some required.

Ian Coleman S.A.A. (Society of Animal Artists) has been working as a professional artist for over 30 years in the fields of animation, illustration, design and fine art. He has been featured in numerous magazines, books and group shows in the UK and USA and television and is one of the UK’s leading wildlife artists with a special interest in sharks and the marine-life world winning two awards of excellence from the USA. Ian is a regular tutor at Farncombe and is well known for providing an enjoyable mix of relaxed tuition and invaluable expertise.
