Which canvas, which paint, which brush, how to blend, dry brush, ‘wet in wet’, ‘Fat over lean’-what does that mean? All these questions and many more explored in creative ways to render effects and styles. We’ll try different surfaces, different brushes and get to grips with the core qualities of oils. We’ll paint abstracts, landscapes, still life, people, clouds, water, fur and any special requests if we have the time. It’s a lot to do over a weekend and at the very least we’ll have a good laugh trying. One to one tuition is given at every stage with technical brush skills and we’ll also look at the essential ingredients to picture making, such as tonal values and balance, composition and the center of interest. Most materials provided. Some materials required.
