Your Special Requests

“I appreciated having gluten-free biscuits available.” Mary Hawker, March 2012

At Farncombe Estate, we have received a number of awards for our dedicated customer focus. Wherever possible, we aim to accommodate your needs and wishes so your stay is as comfortable as possible. The more notice you can give us, the better chance we have of succeeding.

Here are some ways we might be able to help. Please mention any special needs and requests when making your booking.

Dietary requests
In the Farncombe Estate dining room, staff deal with a growing number of allergies: dairy, gluten, peanut and other nuts are some of the most common. If you have an intolerance to a major food group or a religious food rule you wish to observe, the key is to let us know in advance. We will do our utmost to source suitable alternatives.

We don’t, however, need to know your personal food preferences – you’ll find a carefully-planned variety of meal options, including vegetarian, at each sitting.

Wheelchairs
There is full wheelchair access to our reception, bar, dining areas and most bedroom buildings. Seven out of eight lecture rooms are accessible by wheelchair. Eight bedrooms have been adapted or designed for disabled visitors. Some have generous wet rooms, all have grab rails and a security cord. Please request a disabled room, if needed, when you book.

Access around the site
We will do our best to help you move around the site if you have mobility problems – the Estate is on a steep hill and there are quite a few steps to negotiate. However, there is ample parking outside every building (including spaces for disabled drivers) and even check-in can be conducted from your car. Blind visitors may, by arrangement, be met from their taxi and escorted to bedrooms, with hazards explained along the way. They can also be collected when they need to move around the Estate (eg. to lecture rooms, dining room etc.) Guide Dogs for the Blind are permitted everywhere on site.

Allergies
Our centre has been given an Ecarf accreditation for allergy friendliness and we can deal with a range of common allergies. For instance, for anyone suffering with a dust-mite allergy, we have eight “Allergy Free” bedrooms – carpet free and with a special cleaning regime – in Maudslay Court.

Our kitchen staff are equipped to cater for people with most allergies – please see the dietary guidelines above. If you are allergic to the perfume in soap, you may also request fragrance-free toiletries.

Pets
Well-behaved pets are allowed in some bedrooms at Farncombe Estate, on condition they are caged. There are lots of footpaths for dog walking and we request that you pick up any mess. Animals (other than Guide Dogs) are not allowed in public areas, lecture rooms or our Allergy Free bedrooms. Please make it clear if you intend to bring your pet with you. There is a housekeeping charge of £12 for their stay.
